This book is a selection of the author's best columns. These columns were previously published in the Farmland News, Archbold, Ohio.
About the Author
- Becky Corwin-Adams was born in Defiance, Ohio. Becky is the mother of two sons and "MawMaw" to four grandchildren. She currently shares her home with seven cocker spaniels.
As a child, Becky had one cocker spaniel, dozens of cats, chickens, and a variety of "pocket pets." She started writing stories about her pets at an early age. Becky is a freelance writer and columnist for The Farmland News and the author of "Cast-Off Cocker Spaniels", "Cherished Cats and Childhood Capers", "Tails Along the Trails: Walking Adventures with Dogs", "Adventures of an Air Force Wife", "Reminiscing About Retail: Confessions of a Cashier", "Tabby Cat Tales", "Guinea Pig Tales", "Pet Tales", "The Bruners Come to America", and "Vet Tales". Becky volunteers for Columbus Cocker Rescue as a foster parent, transporter, and Ebay seller.
Becky has been an avid reader since childhood. She especially enjoys reading Amish fiction, mysteries, and dog stories. When Becky isn't reading or writing, she enjoys crafting and walking with her cocker spaniels. She has had dozens of her original craft patterns published in various craft magazines.

A WaAr audiobook review!

Hands down the best book that I have read by the author and I have had the pleasure to read most of them!
This is a collection of columns that has been previously published and takes us through normal everyday life of a woman, mom, wife and mother and rescuer of Cocker Spaniels!
From snow to a determined to escape her cage, we get to glimpse what life is like for this autjor with highs and lows such as saving three out of the four Spaniels she and her husband needed to go save.
From Limo rides to a game and flying to a breakfast. From thirty hour of non stopsnow to taking her mom to her mom's old highschool to building a teddybear or....well I lost count but they built a lot of teddy bears.
This is a fun short read and I had the pleasure to listen to the book on audio and this narrator really nailed the intent of the author.
I loved it. Can you tell?

Great Read About Life in America's Heartland

What a fun and interesting read! In "The Best of the Empty Nest," author Becky Corwin-Adams shares a collection of her "The Empty Nest" newspaper column with readers. Her column entries range in topic from "It Never Snows in Englewood," which details an unexpected surprise during her first winter in southern Ohio, to "I Keep Saying, 'No More Dogs!'" about the author's endearing inability to resist more canine friends.
I also found the Build-a-Bear adventures with her grandchildren to be extremely humorous, and loved the stories of her dogs' mischievous escapades, as well as accounts of her efforts in cocker spaniel rescue. I really enjoyed this collection of entertaining tales about life in Ohio in the past and present; it provides readers with a vivid, homespun picture of life in America's heartland.

Very entertaining.

I enjoy reading this book. The author has the ability to pull you into her stories. The story about her 50th birthday was funny. I had a smile on my face the whole time I read it. Also, the story about the month of July was enlightening.
