A truly delightful book!!!

After finishing The Jerusalem Inception, I couldn't wait any more and began reading The Jerusalem Assassin the same day. By now, all the characters, (very aged of course, after thirty years,) are so familiar to me I feel like I grew up with each of them.

In this second book, Azrieli speeds the pace and maintains the suspense to a breathtaking level.

This is not ancient history, but very actual. The facts culminating in the assassination of prime minister Ytzhak Rabin in November 1995, the blackest day in the history of Israel, are very well known to the public. Or not.

But, the genius and vivid imagination of this wonderful writer, intertwined with very accurate facts, shows us that it could have happen differently.

Like in the first book, all the heroes are painted in 3D.This is the supreme talent of Azrieli. They are not black or white , but very humans. They show us their weaknesses, and we identify with them. We love them. We are so frustrated they fall for the lies that ruined their lives.
Reading the two books gave me a different perspective of the life of secluded sects, like the ultra orthodox Neturey Karta.

For the sake of Israel, I hope the parts concerning the Mossad, the Shin Beit and the SOD scurrying all over Europe and Israel chasing one another without left hand knowing about right hand are fiction and don't reflect the true situation.

It is amazing how the historic facts are presented. How the manipulations of one man, eaten by envy, hatred and revenge, changed the course of history. And in a surprising way, we , the readers, begin to believe that IT COULD HAVE HAPPENNED THAT WAY.
I finish by repeating what I already said: Avraham Azrieli is a wonderful writer!!!!!!!!

This is an exciting and enjoyable novel
By Israel Drazin
This book continues the drama of "The Jerusalem Inception," also published in 2011. Reviewing the former book, I wrote that "Avraham Azrieli's suspenseful action thriller is an engrossing read and compares favorably with the novels by John Le Carre, Tom Clancy, and Lee Child." This sequel is far more exiting, and is arguably better than the novels of the aforementioned best-selling authors

The events in this sequel occur some twenty-eight years after those narrated in the former novel, in 1995. Yitzchak Rabin is now the Prime Minister of Israel. He is beleaguered by extremist who despise his plan to create peace with Arafat of the PLO. Elie, the leader of an unofficial group, the man who wants to get his hands on the vast fortunes stolen by a German general from Jews so that he can use the money to help Jews, is determined to help Rabin by staging a fake assassination attack. He is convinced that when the country sees that its Prime Minister is attacked, they will rally around him and support him.

Elie has discovered that the money is in a Swiss bank. He arranges for Jerusalem Gerster, his agent, to act as a non-Jew, marry into the banker's family, rise to become president, and gain control of the billions of dollars of Jewish money put into the bank by the Nazi general who stole the money. He misleads Jerusalem to believe that his parents have disowned him. He has also not revealed to the lovers Tanya, who now leads the European branch of Mossad, and Jerusalem's father, that the other is dead.

The novel is filled with machinations and manipulations by Elie of all the people who work for him so that he can accomplish his goal of gaining control of Shin Bet and Mossad and the billions of dollars in the Swiss bank. There are also many violent acts by Arab extremists and an Arab prince against his father.

This exciting novel should be made into a film. Hopefully, Azrieli will also write a sequel to it.

Another Exciting Read from Avraham Azrieli
By Samantha Barbosa
If you thought The Jerusalem Inception was great (I did!) you probably won't be able to put down this fast-paced sequel, which follows the familiar cast of characters 28 years later and answers all those burning questions you'll have had at the end of the first installment. This is definitely one of those instances when a sequel was absolutely the right choice - the characters created in The Jerusalem Inception were so multi-faceted and so real that I felt almost as if I knew them. Meeting them again in The Jerusalem Assassin was like meeting old friends years later and catching up on everything I'd missed in their lives.

I must admit I was never much a fan of political intrigue, but Azrieli won me over to this genre with his superb storytelling and masterful combination of fact and fiction. His plots are plausible, which is what makes them so engrossing. The history rewritten here is Yitzhak Rabin's 1995 assassination, which is already shrouded in conspiracy. As you read this novel, you begin to wonder, 'What if?' and 'Why not?,' and who doesn't love a story that gets you thinking? I can't wait to read more from this great author.
