About the Author
A life-long resident of New York’s Niagara Frontier, Neil spent years developing short stories based around his life and homeland. In time, every geographical feature of the Western New York landscape morphed into the scenery of his conjured realm, which readers know as Tropal. While a student at Buffalo State College, O’Donnell started incorporating his studies in Anthropology into his writing, delving deeply into the discord and compromise that arises when societies interact. Ultimately, O’Donnell’s personal and educational experiences merged to form tales where individuals and communities overcome scarcity, injustice, and war to find prosperity, equality, and peace. O’Donnell currently resides in Lancaster, New York, balancing his time between his family, writing, and working as a college instructor and academic advisor. O’Donnell also is striving to raise awareness of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), a disorder he’s personally battled since childhood.

Has a charming retro-feel
By Catherine Mackay
This book, while having some spelling/grammatical flaws, nevertheless has a certain charm and kept me reading right till the end. It is a very unique story inasmuch as the hero is a man suffering from the effects of OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). Francis is a professor of archeology amongst other things and a student of classic sci-fi television/movies and the fantasy novels, Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. It is this fantasy world that counter-balances the OCD and enables him to live with his problem. His growth and develoment over the story often parrallels the story of LOTR and he wins acceptance from marines and naval personnel alike and even finds love with Captain Rebecca "Frost" Sanford. With its retro feel and ode to American patriotism, Return of the Sagan is a genuinely pleasant, gentle read with an ocassional burst of action, humor and an underlying theme of humanities need to conserve the environment of planet Earth.

Character-driven sci-fi,
By DPL
Review by Vivienne Tuffnell: AmazonUK
As a teen, I read a lot of sci fi but fell out of love for it because of the over reliance on very cold descriptions of the technology and of space battles. This book is character-driven sci-fi, and the main character is endearing and flawed. He's also very courageous in his determination to overcome the OCD that has plagued him. The whole novel is about what makes us truly human and real in situations that we never evolved to cope with.

A great adventure in Space!
By CJ
The Return of the Sagan was a great sci-go read. Plenty of action, excitement, danger, and some romance abound in this book. It makes for a fun read. Any Star Wars fan, Tolkien fan, and Pop-culture enthusiast would love the scattered references and inside jokes.
