Blue-Ribbon Pecan Pie

9-inch pie crust, unbaked
1/2 c. pecan halves
3 eggs
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 c. sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
1/8 t. salt

Place unbaked crust in a 9" pie plate. Arrange pecans in crust; set aside. In a bowl, beat eggs well. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour mixture over pecans in crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes; reduce oven to 325 degrees. Bake an additional 30 minutes or until center of pie is set. Cool completely. Serves 8.

Another Delectable Book in the Gooseberry 101 Series

Ordered this book months ago because I knew it would be great, and finally received it after Christmas. My daughter and I own all of the Gooseberry 101 recipe books and we both love them. The recipes are yummy and easy to prepare and best of all, there are photos of each and every recipe. I'm a seasoned cook and never owned many recipe books that included photos, but since using the 101 books, I'm a great fan and love seeing the finished recipe creation. Best of all my daughter, who's new to the cooking scene, has been cooking up a storm since I gave her a set of these 101 books. Some of the books are hard to come by because they're older, but well-worth the effort in owning the entire set.

Thanks Gooseberry Patch for yet another super-fine addition to the 101 Collection. As a small aside, my I request another addition to this series: 101 Recipes for Fabulous Vegetarian Meals? Many thanks.

My Sweet-Treat Go-To

This has become my sweet treat go-to book. I absolutely love variety of great cobblers, cakes and desserts in this new Gooseberry Patch Cookbook. The Mini Pie Bites are a family favorite and such a great idea! I have a girlfriend that now requires me to bring the chocolate cobbler anytime I come over to her house. If you have a sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with this book!

I love to cook and bake and usually create my own recipes instead of following a cookbook. This cookbook is great for any level of baker. It offers step by step instructions and amazing pictures. I use it more as a resource to create my own recipes in a lower sugar version and it is perfect for that.

It is 1936 and harvest time in County Donegal. In a house just outside of the village of Ballybeg live the five Mundy sister, barely making ends meet, their ages ranging from twenty-six to forty. Braian Friel evokes not simply the interior landscape of a group of human beings trapped in their domestic situation, but the wider landscape, interior and exterior, Christian and pagan, of which they are nonetheless a part.

About the Author
Brian Friel was born in Omagh, County Tyrone (Northern Ireland) in 1929. He received his college education in Derry, Maynooth and Belfast and taught at various schools in and around Derry from 1950 to 1960. He is the author of many plays that have taken their place in the canon of Irish Literature, including "Philadelphia, Here I Come!" (1964), "Lovers" (1967), "Translations" (1980), "The Communication Cord "(1982), and "Dancing at Lughnasa" (1990). In 1980 he founded the touring theatre company, Field Day, with Stephen Rea.

Who never made a meatloaf before, or only knows one or two ways to make one, will like this book. I, honestly, knew many of the recipes already, but purchased this Kindle book because I am changing my library to paperless. BTW I found some more interesting recipes to try out :-) So, It fitted the purpose :-)

About a year ago I donated an entire library of books to an Indian reservation and to a person who restocks private library collections. I have been replacing that whole library over time on my Kindle. I also have been adding new books I am interested in. This is one of the new ones that caught my attention. I enjoyed it very much.
